Algorithms. Mathematical models. Statistical analysis. These ''Core Maths'' topics are more relevant today than they have ever been. And one of the most engaging ways to learn about them is through sport.
With engaging examples that range from football to tennis, and cricket to darts, Rob Eastaway will explore the maths of sport, revealing how analytical techniques are used to rank the world’s top performers, improve player strategies, and make contests fairer.
Whether you are a sports nut or just somebody who occasionally watches a big match on TV, this fascinating talk will give you insights into what sport can teach us about ranking and decision making in every walk of life.
Audience: Although the maths content is best suited to KS4 and KS5, this talk is for anyone with even a faint interest in sport and applied maths.
