19 November 2015
Venue: School of Education, University of Birmingham, Room G39 (Ground floor, through the double doors next to reception)
Time: 7 pm for 7.15 pm start. Finishing 8.45 pm.

Subject: A chance to find out what’s different about maths teaching in Shanghai.
In September, Elizabeth Bridgett of Kings Norton Girls’ School and Kiran Bhangal of John Henry Newman School travelled to Shanghai to observe maths teaching in primary and middle schools.
In November, Kings Norton Girls’ and the Central Maths Hub are welcoming Bian Xinyuan, Sijun Wang (Echo and Vivienne) from Shanghai to teach our students for three weeks.
At this branch meeting, all four of us will be talking about the Shanghai curriculum, Shanghai teaching, and Shanghai planning. And everyone will have the chance to do some Shanghai maths. We promise it will bear no resemblance to BBC’s Chinese School “Experiment”!
