The MA is saddened to hear that Dr Stephen Siklos died on 17 August 2019.

Chris is a retired teacher, the bulk of his teaching having been in secondary schools in Scotland. He is co-editor of Mathematics in School.

Time to celebrate - This edition of Equals celebrates two very special people. The winners of the Ray Gibbons Memorial Award and the Harry Hewitt Memorial Prize.

We are absolutely delighted to share the wonderful news that our very own Chair of Council Peter Ransom was awarded an MBE for voluntary services to mathematics education.

The MA is saddened to learn that Dr Margaret Rayner, Emeritus Fellow in Mathematics at the University of Oxford, died on 31 May 2019. Dr Rayner was President of The Mathematical Association in 1987.

The Future Teaching Scholars programme is a new and exciting route into teaching, designed for exceptional students who plan to study a Maths- or Physics-related degree at university.
