Hugh Burkhardt 1935 - 2024 7 February 2024

We were saddened to learn of the passing of Hugh Burkhardt on Saturday 3rd February. 

Hugh was an honorary member of the MA. Invited in July 2017 by then president Tom Roper, due to his lifelong contributions to mathematics education. 

In his professional life, Hugh was a theoretical physicist and educational designer. A much loved and respected colleague at the University of Nottingham, and the creator and subsequent executive committee chair, journal editor and regular host of conferences with the ISDDE.
